Description
At-risk individuals, including older adults and individuals with either chronic conditions or disabilities, may have a number of additional needs that must be considered in planning for, responding to, and recovering from a disaster or public health emergency. The CMIST (Communication, Maintaining Health, Independence, Support and Safety, and Transportation) Framework, developed by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Office of the Assistant Secretary for Preparedness and Response (US DHHS ASPR) is a recommended approach for integrating the access and functional needs of these individuals.
